This was my fourth auction working alongside Andrea Parmegiani at Monaco Legend Group while continuing to be mentored by Enzo from WatchLab Monaco. By this stage, after attending the auctions for two years, the environment had begun to feel like a second home, and I was increasingly trusted with greater responsibility.
During this auction, I truly felt that I was beginning to establish myself within the world of horology. One clear sign of my progress was that I could now disassemble and reassemble a mechanical movement in a fraction of the time it had taken me when I first began, reflecting both my growing technical ability and confidence.
I am incredibly grateful to Enzo for taking me under his wing and sharing his knowledge and experience with me, and to Andrea for giving me the opportunity to work at these prestigious auctions. Each experience has strengthened my passion for watchmaking and deepened my understanding of the industry. I look forward to continuing to develop my skills and knowledge as I work towards becoming a professional watchmaker.
My third experience at the Monaco Legend Group auction was especially rewarding, as by this point I had been attending for over a year and a half and had developed a much deeper understanding of both the auction environment and the world of horology.
During this auction, I was given greater responsibility and had the opportunity to undertake more technical tasks. One particularly memorable experience was regulating the timing of a mechanical watch to within approximately +0.03 seconds. Achieving this required patience and precision, as even the slightest adjustment to the regulator can alter the watch’s rate by several seconds. Although it was a delicate and meticulous process, it was extremely rewarding and further strengthened my interest in watchmaking.
I was also entrusted with responsibilities such as presenting watches to prospective bidders and ensuring that the timepieces were handled securely and returned safely to their display cabinets. Being trusted with such valuable watches was a great honour and reinforced my confidence within the auction environment. By the end of the event, I was already looking forward to returning the following year.
During my visit to The British Watchmaking School, I explored many fascinating aspects of the watchmaking world; an area that deeply fuels my passion and career ambitions. This experience marked the true beginning of my journey towards becoming a watchmaker. Learning the intricate skills of horology at WOSTEP schools, which have renowned locations around the world such as in Switzerland, represents the foundation I hope to build upon.
My visit came just a couple of months after my second watch auction, an immersive weekend surrounded by timepieces and the craft of watchmaking. Stepping into the school where it all begins was incredibly inspiring; it reminded me how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to pursue what I love and to explore paths that truly fit my interests.
Walking through the halls, the atmosphere felt grand and full of purpose; a place where the most talented watchmaking students train to master their craft. The experience has profoundly motivated me to set a clear goal for myself: to attend a watchmaking school and one day become a skilled, respected watchmaker.
I was delighted to have been invited back to Monaco for my second auction experience. This event was especially memorable for me as it was my second auction with Monaco Legend Group and my second time working alongside Enzo from WatchLab Monaco. By this point, I had realised that I truly wanted to become part of the world of fine timepieces and pursue a career in watchmaking.
Being surrounded by exceptional watches and jewellery — some valued in the seven-figure range — was an extraordinary experience and a genuine privilege. I felt incredibly honoured to be trusted within such a respected sector of the industry. It was during this auction that I began taking watchmaking more seriously, learning closely from Enzo and observing the passion and expertise of the wider watch community. Seeing the dedication and craftsmanship of the people around me confirmed that this was the field I wanted to build my future in, and it has motivated me ever since to continue developing my knowledge and skills as a watchmaker.
I had approached Andrea Parmegiani from Monaco Legend Group, who kindly agreed to my undertaking work experience at one of their auctions. It was during this internationally acclaimed event that I first met my mentor and friend, Enzo, from WatchLab Monaco.
During the four days of the auction and preview exhibition, I handled some of the world’s most valuable timepieces. Using one of Enzo’s practice movements, I learned how to disassemble and reassemble a mechanical movement. I also developed an understanding of the importance of key components such as the gear train, pallet fork, and the various bridges that form the foundation of a mechanical timepiece.
